Everyone's Welcome

Moira Primary School is inclusive and welcoming to everybody.  It does not matter if you are big or small, or if you are a boy or a girl. It does not matter if you have been with us for a long time or you have just arrived.  It doesn’t matter what colour your skin is or what religion you believe in.  It doesn’t matter if you find things easy or hard and it doesn’t matter what shape your family is. It doesn’t matter how unique you are or what your hopes and aspirations are because everyone is welcome at Moira.

Everyone’s Welcome at Moira is a whole school approach that uses the ‘No Outsider’s’ resources and framework to teach children about equality and diversity, in line with British Values, Ofsted guidelines and the Equality Act (2010). It enhances our PSHE/RSE curriculum and unpins our core values and ethos.   The scheme was originally written by Andrew Moffat. His work to promote equality has been globally celebrated. Each half term, every year group (EYFS – Year 6) uses story books and lesson plans to help the children to recognise and embrace difference in all forms.  Issues addressed include gender and gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, disability and age.  These themes are also reflected in our whole school assemblies.  The selection of picture books we use are available to parents and accessible in our virtual library below.

Everyone’s Welcome provides opportunities for our children to be inquisitive, creative and curious about the world around them. It serves to provide them with a sense of belonging and their own place within society. Everyone's Welcome at Moira ensures that our pupils are able to accept and respect differences, challenge stereotypes, develop critical thinking skills and be prepared for life in modern Britain.
